The second edition of the International Summer School on Smart Green Infrastructure officially commenced on Monday, July 20, 2026, bringing together 25 early-career researchers from African countries for an intensive 10-day programme focused on renewable energy, climate-resilient agriculture, and sustainable infrastructure. Funded by VolkswagenStiftung, the programme brings together 25 PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows, reflecting its commitment to nurturing the next generation of African researchers and innovators.

From Ongata Rongai to Geneva: How University of Nairobi Student Robert Odhiambo Helped Lead Africa's First IBM Call for Code Global Victory

On 10 December 2025, three young Kenyan engineers made history at the Palais Wilson in Geneva when their team, DuniAfrika, was named the Global Grand Prize winner of the 2025 IBM Call for Code Global Challenge. Their innovation, LINDA, named after the Kiswahili word for "protect"emerged victorious from more than 29,000 entries worldwide, becoming the first project from Africa and the Middle East to win the competition in its eight-year history.
