The following Msc students in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering successfully presented their thesis proposals in Transportation Engineering to their supervisor Prof. O.O. Mbeche and other invited guests drawn from the field of Engineering. Their theses have been recommended for oral defence subject to minor corrections.
The demonstrations carried out included the hardness and the impact tests. These tests are vital in their course unit of Dental Materials.

The 2013/2014 academic year mechanical Students have been engaged in fourth term activities running from 2/6/2014 to 19/7/2014 that gives them practicle hands on experiences in the various work-shop stations and includes industrial visits to different Engineering firms to expose them to real life experiences.
Prof. Patts Odira, Dean School of Engineering, visited Kanazawa University, Japan (1 – 8 March 2014) to discuss opportunities for opening collaboration between the College of Science and Engineering and the School of Engineering, University of Nairobi. Kanazawa University has an active MOU with the College of Health Sciences, UON.
The Seed Enterprise and Management Institute (SEMIS) in the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS) mounted a Certificate Course in Seed drying processing and Storage from 1st to 7th June 2014 in collaboration with the Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering.

The University of Nairobi Family was delighted to inaugurate Prof. Peter M.F. Mbithi as the seventh (7) Vice - Chancellor on 14 Jan. 2015. During the colorful ceremony attended by the senior representives from the Government, the outgoing Vice Chancellor - Prof. George Magoha and the entire UON management promised Prof. Mbithi total support as he took power to lead the University to the next level.
With the upcoming End of First Semester, Supplementary and Special Examinations for First years having been organised to start on Wednesday 7th January,2015 ,they are now set to start on Thursday 8th January ,2015.

The notification desired is to ask students of the Electrical Department to do their Course/ lecturer Appraisal before Wednesday 22nd next week. To evaluate a student needs to register. Every submission grants one a chance to be the lucky winner of Ksh 1000 worth of airtime after the end of the evaluation period.
Results for second year (May – December 2014 Academic Year) will be out tomorrow 26th March 2015 by 9am. Supplementary to be done concurrently with semester exams from April 13th 2015. All students concerned must therefore get their results immediately so as to prepare for supplementary if any.
Research and development regarding the feasibility of a locally developed Kenya laptop per child solution continues as Nobeah signs a Memorandum of Understanding with University of Nairobi to create internships for the bright young Kenyan engineers who may turn the promise of a thriving industry into reality. This was presided by Chairman of the Department Prof. Ouma.
As a matter of social responsibility, E.I.E 2014/2015 fifth year students visited Good Samaritan Children's home in Kayole, Nairobi to donate food staff and clothings.
The students organised on their own and the requested the college for the transport throught the department.
2015/2016 First year students were being taken through orientation by CAE management team.
This is one way in which the new students are being incoporated into the university family. It was a day they itteracted by both the academic members of staff, administrative staff and the student union officials.
Fifth year student, George Ouma will present his innovation, Auto-Run Cell Phone within the Department tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for lecturers and students to share with him ideas that will make his innovation the best during his presentation at Abuja. You are all invited.
2015/2016 first years reported and started their registration on 15th September, 2014.
The registration exercise started as early as 7.30 am in the morning. The exercise was well organised and the flow was without problems. The students were later ferried to the hall using the College bus.

The department was visited by staff from KDF, Engineering Institute on a fact finding mission regarding our labs, running of the labs and the equipments. They are planning to have a change in the way they conduct their training and even see a possible way of collaborating with one of the institutions around in the field of Engineering.

The second and third year students (2013-2014) has completed their fourth term activities which involved the lab work and industrial visits to enhance them with the practical work.
The fourth term was very successful and fruitful and seriously helped in the openning up of the students' minds.

United Nation University (UNU) which is administering Japanese Ministry of Education program to encourage Japanese graduate students to conduct field research in Africa as per Japanese government’s scheme to develop closer relations with Africa, send one of their students to Kenya to carry out a research.
