The University of Nairobi community joined the world in marking the World Engineering Day on Friday 4th March 2022 at the UoN Towers. The colorful event was jointly organized by our key partners; The Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK).  Click HERE to Watch Event

In Line with the World Engineering Day theme; “Build back wiser, Engineering the future”  participants listened to speaker after speaker as they outlined the various ways through which engineers are contributing towards sustainable development.  The organizers planted a commemorative tree at the Main Campus grounds; the tree will serve as a reminder of the commitment to engineer a better future for all.

The Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering Eng. Simpson O. Nyambane; also representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama welcomed the guests to the University and expressed his delight that the IEK and EBK chose to hold the World Engineering Day as well as the  IEK golden Jubilee (#IEK@50) celebrations at the University of Nairobi. Eng. Simpson further added “the University of Nairobi is cognizant of the enormous contribution IEK and EBK are making to the field of Engineering.  We continue to enjoy a long-standing partnership with them that provides an outlet for our engineering innovations and research to reach far and wide. Many companies continue to actively recruit our engineering students and also organize career mentorship programs to impart students with key skills they will need when they join the workforce.”
