Nairobi, 18 September 2026. The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nairobi celebrated a significant milestone as 285 graduands were conferred degrees during the University’s 75th Graduation Ceremony, comprising 6 PhDs, 46 Master’s degrees and 233 Bachelor’s degrees.

The Faculty joins the University community in congratulating the Class of 2026, whose dedication, hard work and perseverance have culminated in this important academic milestone. The graduands were part of the more than 3,200 graduands participating in this year’s graduation ceremony.

The 75th Graduation Ceremony held a special significance for the Faculty of Engineering as the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eng. Ayub Njoroge Gitau, presided over the ceremony. Prof. Gitau is also the outgoing Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, making the occasion particularly memorable for the Faculty.

In his remarks, Prof. Gitau highlighted the achievements of University of Nairobi students on the global stage, citing Miriam Achieng Kenyatta, a Geospatial Engineering student, who was ranked among the Global Top 15 and Top 3 in Africa at the 25th Chinese Bridge Competition, which brought together participants from 137 countries.

Reflecting on this and other achievements, the Vice Chancellor emphasised the significance of this year’s graduation theme: “Transforming Society through Excellence, Knowledge and Innovation.”

“This year's graduation theme captures both our responsibility and our ambition: Transforming Society through Excellence, Knowledge and Innovation.”

Prof. Gitau noted that excellence challenges the University community to raise its standards, knowledge provides the evidence needed to understand society’s challenges, while innovation calls for turning knowledge into practical solutions that improve livelihoods.

“There is evidence that we are moving in that direction,” Prof. Gitau said.

As the 285 graduands transition from university into their respective professional and academic journeys, the Faculty of Engineering celebrates not only their academic accomplishments but also the knowledge, skills and experiences they have gained at the University of Nairobi.

The Faculty extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2026 and wishes all graduands success as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
