Overview

The objectives of the course are to equip students with:

a. Knowledge in energy, sources, availability and use.
b. Knowledge and skills required for development, acquisition and application of
   improved methods and analysis in process design, operations and management to
   minimize energy costs, improve productivity and reinforce environmental responsibility.
c. Technical as well as financial skills and ability to carry out research in energy
   management as well as develop and implement energy management projects.

The course shall run over a minimum of four (4) semesters to a maximum of ten (10) semesters of fifteen (15) weeks each.
The course shall be by course work, examination and project.
The course shall consist of six (6) core units, four (4) electives and a project (equivalent to 6units).
The first year of study shall be totally devoted to course work, while the second year of study shall be devoted to the project.
In each of the two semesters of the first year, students shall be required to take up to three (3) core units and two (2) electives.
A course unit shall be defined as forty-five (45) contact hours comprising of lectures, tutorials, laboratory practicals, industrial visits and seminars

The common regulations for the Masters degrees at the University of Nairobi
shall apply.
The minimum requirements for eligibility into Master of Science in Energy
management programme are:
  1 Holders of at least an Upper Second honours Bachelor’s degree of the
     University of Nairobi in any relevant Engineering or Physical sciences discipline.
  2 Holders of a Lower Second honours Bachelor’s degree of the University of
     Nairobi in any relevant Engineering or Physical sciences discipline and two
     (2) years of relevant experience.
 3 Holders of at least a Bachelor’s pass degree with Postgraduate diploma in
    Energy management of the University of Nairobi.
 4 Holders of equivalent qualifications to those specified in (1), (2), (3) and
    (4) above from institutions recognized by the Senate.y management projects.

MSc in Energy Management student can find employment in various fields including

- Energy producing

- Manufacturing industry
