The University of Nairobi Engineering Students Association completed another successful edition of the Annual Engineering Students Conference. The event themed ‘’Let’s go Green’’ was held over a course of three days, two at the Chandaria Auditorium at the University of Nairobi towers and the final day at Ngong Hills planting trees.

In attendance were students from various universities in Kenya and Uganda. In the opening day, the main speaker H.E Eyal David (Israeli deputy ambassador) challenged students to come up with solutions to climate change. He said that Israel was ready to share their technologies and work with young innovators towards making a positive change in the environment. He said that Israel has worked closely with the University of Nairobi and was a strong supporter of the Innovation Week.

He also said that Israel had been taking Kenyan students for 11 months internship in a program dubbed ‘Mashav’, bases in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.  Israel is especially big on water conservation, using 90% of recycled water on irrigation projects. They also use drip irrigation to conserve water which comes from both natural resources and de salination.

The students had also organized various workshops with major industry players to discuss matters climate change and bridge the gap between students and industry. The event also included project presentations from students where the best project was awarded.

The final day of the event happened at Ngong hills where the students planted trees in line with this years theme.
